Kerr named Young Tunneller of the Year
Amanda Kerr, a field engineer with Michels Tunneling Operations, received the 2019 Young Tunneller of the Year Award. The International Tunneling Association presented this prestigious award in November. Kerr was one of five finalists and the only finalist from the United States.
Amanda has worked at Michels for five years, starting as an intern. She graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in construction engineering.
“I’ve been lucky to get to work with an excellent team who have influenced my growth tremendously on a few different projects, most recently the Blacklick Tunnel,” Amanda said. “Tunneling provides many opportunities for quick thinking and creativity in a technical environment, and I look forward to more engineering challenges as my career at Michels continues.”
