Michels assists with development of HDD standards
Michels is contributing our insights and expertise in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as it develops technical standards for this trenchless construction technology.
Engineer Technician Brad Eifert has been appointed to the Standards Oversight Council. The council includes representatives from municipalities, energy providers and contractors who are working together to develop guidelines that are feasible and environmentally sound.
The council’s responsibilities include:
- Developing procedures and practices to minimize potential for inadvertent releases associated with HDD.
- Developing procedures and practices to respond to inadvertent releases when they do happen.
- Developing minimum qualifications for contractors bidding on HDD projects.
The council will meet monthly and have the standards completed by October 2020.
Michels is an international leader in HDD. Brad has specific and extensive experience designing projects, predicting arc pressure curves, creating inadvertent return plans and minimizing risk.
