Michels Power wins Best Projects competition
Michels Power earned first place in ENR Mountain States 2015 Best Projects competition for constructing the longest power line in North Dakota’s history. Michels was hired by Minnkota Power to build the 250-mile 345kV transmission line from Center to Grand Forks.
The project took two years to build. As part of it, Michels erected 1,334 steel poles and strung 8 million feet of bundled conductor. An additional 2.6 million feet of shield wire and fiber optic cable were installed.
The project was honored in the Energy/Industrial category and will be considered for Best Overall project in the region. Michels’ work on the project will be featured in ENR Mountain State’s October edition.
