Miller leaves everlasting impression on Michels
With great sadness and respect, we announce the passing of Herb Miller on Thursday, Oct. 29
Herb’s stature got him noticed, but his huge heart is what will always be remembered. He made monumental contributions to Michels, the small and diverse businesses he championed, and the many associations in which he was actively involved.
Herb joined Michels in 2005 as a Project Manager and Senior Manager of Supplier Diversity and Business Development. He quickly established himself as a selfless mentor to those in our company and well beyond; he was a larger-than-life master class in servant leadership. He retired earlier this year.
“To know Herb was to cherish and respect him,” said Brian Johnson, Senior Executive Advisor. “His booming voice and deep laugh never masked his warmth. His professional goal was to empower those who worked for him and to develop the next generation of great leaders.”
“Herb was a very special person; truly one-of-a-kind,” he said.
Herb will leave an everlasting impact on Michels, the industry he loved, and the many colleagues and friends he touched.
“A mentor, by definition, is someone who guides people by asking the right questions and sharing their experience and knowledge,” said Holly Luehring, Director of Marketing and Communications. “Herb was a true mentor. His insights and spirit will be with me forever.”
We will always remember the many stories he shared, his love of travel, and his passion for leading a full life and making meaningful connections with everyone he met.
Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife, Denise; his two daughters and sons-in-law, and his two grandsons.
