PLCA recognizes Michels' contributions
Michels is proud to be an active partner in driving positive change in the industries in which we work.
Robert Osborn, Robert Westphal and Pat Michels
Robert Osborn, Senior Vice President of Pipeline Operations, completed his term as President of the Pipe Line Contractors Association (PLCA) and Robert Westphal, Senior Vice President of Construction Operations, was named an honorary PLCA member. Both were recognized during the PLCA’s 70th annual convention in February. In fact, Osborn had the privilege of introducing Westphal.
Osborn started working in the pipeline industry in 1980 as a laborer and joined Michels in 2001 as Vice President of Pipeline Construction. He has guided Michels in construction of some of the most significant pipeline projects in recent history.
As PLCA president, he continued his work to improve the pipeline industry by addressing important issues, including maintaining standards of the pipeline contracting business, promoting cooperative relationships among contractors, expanding the workforce, working with labor union partners, and sharing best practices about safety, quality and environmental stewardship.
Westphal is a recognized leader in the utility construction industry who has been employed by Michels since he was hired by Dale Michels in 1965 as a laborer.
Westphal continues to actively participate in many organizations, and remains highly involved in the industry and at the forefront of emerging markets and technology.
