Quick assessment and implementation

Groundwater can impact the safety and delay the progress of a construction project. Michels Construction, Inc. has the skills and expertise to quickly assess any groundwater control situation, design an efficient solution, and implement it. Our slate of groundwater control and dewatering systems will solve any challenge you face. We design and build bypass pumping systems to temporarily reroute rivers, streams, and sewers around active construction sites.

Our highly qualified groundwater control teams have access to a large, varied inventory of pumping equipment as well as drill rigs, jet trucks, one-pass trenchers, and support equipment.

Our techniques include:

  • Bypass pumping
  • Deep wells
  • Sock tile
  • Trenching
  • Wellpoints

Michels Dewatering group was tasked to design, install and operate a system to divert peak flows of up to 168,000 gallons per minute, or 242 million gallons per day, so that a pipeline could be open cut in dry conditions across the Conotton Creek.

Michels designed a water diversion solution for the Little Calumet River for an anomaly dig. The river serves as a drainage canal for the area and can rise at least 4 inches in water elevation. As little as 1 inch of rain can substantially alter the flow of the river.
