Foundations

Michels Construction, Inc. provides safe, reliable solutions for projects from coast to coast. Our engineers understand project goals, explore soil and site conditions, and develop a cost-effective solution. Our crews dig and drill to build structures, amend soil or install systems to safely support excavations. Our project management team delivers projects on time and budget. All operations are backed by a large fleet of specialized equipment, strategically located throughout the U.S. for efficient mobilization.

Deep Foundations

Michels Construction drills shafts and drives piles to create load-bearing structures in competent soil or rock to allow safe, solid development on the surface or far above it. Our crews are experienced and equipped to work in all conditions, including sites that have previously been developed or are in congested areas.

Our techniques include:

  • Auger Cast Piles
  • Drilled Shafts (belled and rock)
  • Driven Piles
  • Micropiles
  • Mini-caissons
  • Oscillated drilled shafts (temporary and permanent cased)

Ground Improvement

In certain soil conditions, Michels Construction’s ground improvement experts design a plan and use various methods to increase load-bearing capabilities and reduce settlement to allowable tolerances.

Our techniques include:

  • Aggregate piers (stone columns)
  • Rigid inclusions
  • Vibro compaction
  • Dynamic compaction
  • Compaction grouting
  • Chemical grouting
