Before we start any water and land-based activities, we develop detailed site-specific safety plans to keep safety at the forefront of all operations. Our divers are trained and certified, our equipment and diving gear is meticulously maintained and tested, and our plans include the necessary redundancies to minimize risks.

Projects

Michels scope of work is to install 242 drilled shafts to support the piers for anew bridge. The installation of the drilled shafts was completed with the simultaneous use of up to four drill rigs. Utilizing barges, 233 drilled shafts were installed in the river. Michels crews also installed 7-foot and 10-foot permanent steel casing into bedrock for each shaft.

Michels worked from land and from barges to remove 800 feet of deteriorating timber and concrete seawall along the Kewaunee River in Harbor Park before replacing it with 800 feet of anchored steel sheet pile bulkhead.

Michels repaired and replaced 8 tainter gates and 9 existing concrete piers at the Kaukauna Dam. The dam was last rebuilt almost 90 years ago, and was severely deteriorating.
