The Equipment and Yard Operations “Lead” at Michels Canada is responsible for overseeing the operations of the equipment yard at the Coquitlam, B.C. location. This role ensures the efficient organization, maintenance, and deployment of heavy construction equipment and materials. The Position will be responsible to lead the yard team, enforce safety regulations, and maintain operational readiness to support Michels Canada’s heavy civil construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Yard Management:
  2. Oversee the organization and storage of equipment, tools, and materials in the yard.
  3. Monitor equipment movement to and from the yard, ensuring accurate documentation and proper handling.
  4. Manage Bill of Landing (B.O.L.) for equipment and material transfer.
  5. Conduct routine inspections of the yard to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  6. Equipment Coordination:
  7. Collaborate with field teams to ensure timely delivery and return of equipment.
  8. Coordinate equipment servicing, repairs, and inspections with the Nisku team.
  9. Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, condition, and availability.
     
  10. Team Leadership:
  11. Supervise and provide direction to yard personnel, including operators and laborers.
  12. Train team members on yard operations, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
  13. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to staff
     
  14. Environmental and Security Compliance:
  • Ensure all yard activities comply with Michels Canada Environmental Standards, including waste management, spill prevention, and emissions control.
  • Adhere to Michels Canada Security Standards and policies, including site access control, theft prevention, and asset protection measures.

    2. Enforce adherence to Michels Canada’s safety policies and industry regulations.
    3. Ensure the yard and equipment comply with environmental and operational standards.
    4. Conduct safety meetings and audits regularly.
    5. Operational Efficiency:
    6. Implement processes to improve yard workflow and equipment turnaround times.
    7. Monitor and report on key yard performance metrics.
    8. Manage yard operational budgets and recommend cost-saving initiatives.

    Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment yard or logistics management within the construction or heavy equipment industry.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental compliance standards.
  • Proficient in equipment management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and other relevant safety certifications as maybe required.
  • BENEFITS
    The target salary range: $75,000-85,000 CAD per annum.
