DESCRIPTION

The Equipment & Service Manager, Tunneling & Trenchless Services will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, maintenance and safety of our specialized equipment used within our Tunneling and Trenchless Service operating units. You will be responsible for overseeing equipment requirements on site, and will be the main contact for all procurement, logistics, storage, equipment set up, testing, mobilization and demobilization from the field. The utilization and training of our Service personnel will be within the responsibilities for this position. This position will be based in our regional office based in Nisku AB.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved.
  • Collaborate with Project and Construction Management,  and division leaders to determine project requirements and establish equipment needs.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships to support procurement of equipment, components and spare parts.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive equipment maintenance program, including regular inspections, servicing, and repairs.
  • Manage equipment inventory to ensure availability for projects while minimizing downtime.
  • Maintain work order system accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor equipment-related expenses and optimize purchases, rentals, and upgrades.
  • Ensure all equipment adheres to safety and environmental standards and conduct inspections.
  • Provide training, feedback, and facilitate performance reviews for staff.
  • Report and manage equipment-related incidents.
  • Track and enforce proper protocols, including logistics support and inventory management.
  • Analyze data to make recommendations and establish procedures.
  • Lead by example to maintain and promote Michels Canada’s culture and core values by complying with Michels Canada Standards and Policies. Lead team members by fostering constructive and effective professional connections, establishing trust and give/receive candid and fair feedback, and demonstrating both competence and character, inspiring confidence in those you work with.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • 10 years of experience in industrial, construction, or related field as well as management experience.
    • Strong familiarity with specialized industry manufacturers such as Herrenknecht.
    • Demonstrate decision making skills in high impact situations

    DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

    • Journeyman Mechanic or Electrician
    • Advanced Management background (by educatoin or experience)

    LANGUAGES

    • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
