DESCRIPTION
Michels Canada is looking for an experienced HSE Lead who is responsible for promoting, communicating and overseeing safety compliance through the sharing of information and training of project team members. The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable to varying client expectations and demonstrate the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities while operating under limited supervision. This position will be based in Conchord, ON and is a permanent full-time opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Drive the development, recommendation, and implementation of safety programs, practices, and procedures (including operational procedures considering all relevant risks, hazards, and controls.)
- Oversee and perform inspections to identify hazards and potential risks for corrective actions.
- Conduct employee new hire health and safety orientations identify, monitor, evaluate and track all health and safety activities through audits and other record keeping methods.
- Ensure all employees have adequate PPE available to them as necessary or requested.
- Support adherence to all company health, safety and environmental standards, policies. And procedures while maintaining on-going knowledge of local, provincial, and federal guidelines.
- Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada’s Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum required of 5 years Health & Safety experience in urban municipal infrastructure projects.
- Must possess a valid driver license.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and shifts.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel and other MS office programs.
- Must be able to provide a copy of a clean driver abstract
- Intermediate knowledge of applicable safety legislation.
- Ability to communicate effectively and ability to interpret technical specifications and industry terminology.
- Must have experience with Confined Space legislation in Ontario.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in a related field (i.e., OHS&E or NSCO) would be an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA.
- Strong ability to manage time, makes quality decisions, manages and measure work.
- CRSP qualification is preferred, CSO or NSCSO is an asset.
- Highly organized and ability to work in a face paced environment
LANGUAGES
- Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English
