DESCRIPTION

Michels Canada is currently searching for a dedicated MTBM Electrician to join our team! The MTBM Electrician plays a key role in ensuring the successful day to day maintenance of our MTBM machines. They will also assist with ensuring a preventative maintenance plan is set up and followed to ensure minimal downtime. In this role you, your expertise will contribute to maintaining a safe and secure work environment for our employees and subcontractors while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

This position is based out of our project office located in Edmonton, AB. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair microtunnelling electric controls and equipment suitable for various ground conditions.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair generators and related equipment. 
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment, ensuring continuity, current, voltage, and resistance meet specifications.
  • Interpret electrical code specifications accurately.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and meticulously maintain maintenance records.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Address electrician faults and issues in underground conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, documenting any changes or modifications made to electrical systems.
  • Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada’s standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Journeyperson Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred)
    • 3+ years of industrial electrical experience
    • Must be able to work in tight confined spaces 20+ meters below ground 
    • Valid class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
       

    DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with microtunnelling is an asset 
    • Knowledge and experience with Herrenknecht AVN 1200 machines is an asset
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to build strong relationships with team members and project stakeholders.
       

    LANGUAGES

    • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
