Michels was contracted to design and install secant shafts as temporary earth retention to allow for the excavation of approximately 71 feet below grade to install a new pump station.

Michels installed various forms of earth retention systems using steel sheet pile, secant shafts and drilled shafts. The customer required deep foundations in an area with a high water table. The earth retention systems Michels installed allowed crews to pour the foundations in a dry working area.
