DESCRIPTION

Michels Canada is looking for a General Superintendent to overseeing total field construction efforts to ensure large projects or several smaller projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. The General Superintendent should be able to handle projects over $100M. This position will be based out of our Infrastructure Divisional office located in Vancouver, BC

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Oversee all active projects and provides leadership to Superintendents and/or Assistant Superintendents in the field.
  • Manages all manpower, materials, and equipment as per the projected execution plan including the coordination of field construction staff.
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments to ensure the project schedule is met.
  • Coordinates plans with field engineers to overcome any inconsistencies.
  • Responsible for detailed direction of construction specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada’s Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Trades certification with 5- 10 years’ experience or equivalent.
  • Related construction experience in complex, multi-disciplinary civil open-cut construction projects such as water/wastewater linear conveyance projects, transportation, and civil infrastructure.
  • Previous years of supervisory or management experience in the construction of civil infrastructure projects such as water/wastewater linear conveyance projects, transportation and associated infrastructure.
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Canada is preferred.  
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite

LANGUAGES

  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
