Galm appointed president of Michels Power as Harasha retires

After more than two decades of guiding Michels Power, Inc. on a path to becoming one of the nation’s largest electrical contractors, President Mark Harasha will retire on June 13. Harasha joined Michels in 2004 after spending 17 years as a line technician and construction manager with a Wisconsin-based power utility. He took over the helm as general manager in 2011 and ascended to president as the company grew. Guiding significant business growth without compromising his personal commitment to safety has been a hallmark of his career.

Under Harasha’s leadership, Michels Power has earned a nationwide reputation as a safe, reliable turnkey contractor for transmission, distribution, substation and renewable solutions. At the same time, Harasha has contributed to the industry as an active member of (NECA) Academy of Electrical Contracting, which leads the industry in innovation and safety for electrical construction in the United States. Currently, Mark serves as the Vice President of Large Contractors. In 2022, he was inducted into the NECA Academy of Electrical Contracting.

“As impressive as our growth has been, it would not have been possible without the team we have built,” Harasha said. “Our people share a dedication to safety, and the work we do that is unmatched. I am exceptionally proud of what we have become. I am also very confident in the team we have in place to continue our tradition of excellence in a very challenging industry.”

Starting this week, Chris Galm will serve as President of Michels Power, working closely with Harasha to ensure a successful transition. Galm joined Michels in 2024 following 20 years at PAR Electrical Contractors, including nearly two years as President. Galm has more than two decades of experience in the industry in project management and leadership roles.

“Getting selected to lead Michels in a rapidly changing industry is a great honor,” Galm said. “I am grateful for the confidence the Michels family has in me and proud of the reputation we have built. My goal is to continue to guide our evolution as a turnkey contractor of choice for challenging and essential projects throughout the United States and to never compromise our commitment to honoring safety as the cornerstone of our culture.

Pat Michels, President and CEO of Michels Corporation, thanked Harasha for his contributions to elevating Michels Power to its level as an undisputed leader of safety and performance in the power industry.

“Congratulations to Mark on a well-earned retirement after a notable career as a key contributor to our entire industry,” Michels said. “As we move on to the next chapter of the Michels Power story, we will remain guided by our past and inspired by future opportunities.”

Michels Power is part of the Michels Family of Companies, a strategically assembled collection of energy and infrastructure contractors serving customers in North America, Europe and Australia.
