As we continue our mission to innovate and provide safe infrastructure around the world, we also strive to keep our environment safe. Following our initial collaboration in 2024, we are renewing our support of 4ocean to remove 1 metric ton of plastic from our oceans in 2025. Over the past two years, that total is the equivalent of 88,200 plastic bottles, 441,000 plastic forks, or 4,410,000 plastic straws.
Environmental stewardship is encapsulated in Michels’ Core Values. We are committed to preserving and improving the environment through sponsorships and volunteer activities as well as our day-to-day work at jobsites around the world to decrease our global footprint, support air quality, reduce carbon emissions, and support biodiversity.
From rehabilitating dams to dredging waterways to restoring navigation channels, our team respects and understands the importance of bodies of water both as jobsites and as a resource to be preserved. With more than 100 years of marine construction experience through our legacy companies, we continue to expand our marine capabilities.
In addition to our donations, we are making strides to reduce our environmental footprint at work and at home. Our plastic film recycling program has diverted 4.6 metric tons of plastic film from landfills, and we continuously refine the processes for collecting and using environmental data to reduce emissions, water, and waste.
