Michels crews spread joy with toys in local communities

Michels crews spread joy with toys and donation in local communities.

Organizing holiday toy drives is an annual tradition for Michels crew members, who enjoy giving back to the communities that become their homes away from home.

Here are a few examples of how Michels crews recently brought holiday joy to hundreds of families: More than 300 employees and their families participated in a Toys for Tots drive in Buckhannon, WV, where Michels is building a pipeline. Crew members challenged one another to friendly competitions for a great cause and donated more than $10,000 worth of toys! As a result, the regional Toys for Tots program was able to double the amount of families they helped. In Pennsylvania, 300 Michels employees donated $5,000 worth of toys and $2,000 in cash to the Huntingdon County Toys for Tots program. The crews were working on a pipeline spread and asked local officials how they could help spread holiday cheer. A 12-member crew working on a substation in Woonsocket, RI, participated in a toy drive for young patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. The crew was asked to participate by an HSE coordinator whose daughter is a nurse at the hospital.

Why do we do it? Here’s an outtake from a letter we received from the mother of a 4-year-old boy who was a Toys for Tots recipient.

My son will have a nice Christmas thanks, in part, to your crew of people that cared enough for others. I just needed to let them know that their kindness didn’t go unrecognized or unappreciated.
