We believe that we are all responsible for the safety of ourselves and one another. Our commitment to this cornerstone of our culture was recognized by the Pipe Line Contractors Association (PLCA), which awarded Michels a Contractor Safety Award for our superior safety performance among association members in 2024.
Our legacy of safety began in the early days when our founder, Dale Michels, was injured. While he made a full recovery, the accident left a lasting mark and led to the Michels family mission that no other family should have to experience a similar accident.
Today, we provide our people with the programs, tools, time, and training to do the work without cutting corners or taking unnecessary risks. These actions help ensure that our people make it home safely every day.
The PLCA Contractor Safety Award is presented to companies with a zero-percent fatality rate and low incident and transfer rates. Companies must also implement an anti-human trafficking program.
In addition, PLCA recognized 23 Michels superintendents with the Silver Superintendent Award for their commitment to safety excellence.
