South Fork Wind named Project of the Year

Congratulations to the entire project team for the successful completion of South Fork Wind, which was recognized as both Project of the Year and Best Project in the Energy/Industrial category for 2024 by Engineering News-Record New York.

The first utility-scale offshore wind energy project in the United States, South Fork Wind represents a major milestone for renewable energy. Aqueos Marine, Inc., a division of Michels Construction, Inc., completed the cable pull-in scope of work, while Michels Trenchless, Inc. installed approximately 2,600 feet of landfall conduit by horizontal directional drilling and performed a record number of Direct Pipe landfalls.

The 12-turbine wind farm, located off the coast of Long Island, NY, is designed to produce clean energy to power 70,000 homes.
