Scope
A Michels crew installed 7,000 feet of 2-inch conduit in a utility tunnel system under downtown St. Paul, MN, as part of a multi-phase cell phone network upgrade project.
The tunnel system was hand-carved in sandstone between 30 and 90 feet below street level more than 100 years ago and contains power cables that feed all downtown buildings. Once Michels crew members installed the conduit onto racks in the narrow tunnels, they hand-pulled three microducts inside of it and then place three fibers inside the microducts.
