Scope

Michels Power, Inc. excavated more than 166,000 lineal feet of 3-4 foot deep trenches for 16 solar farm sites at various locations throughout Minnesota. Each solar farm site has the capacity to produce between 4 and 10 megawatts of direct current power. Michels Power deployed 4-5 person crews to simultaneously work on up to eight sites at a time. Crews used large excavators, screening machines, tracked skid steers, trench rollers, mini excavators, dozers and tracked dump carriers to execute the project. Work continued through the installation of the solar panels, which made for tight spaces due to the linear axis tracking systems.
