Delavan Pump Station
- Location Wisconsin
- TimelineJuly 2014 - September 2015
Michels managed and constructed the piping, mechanical scopes and pump installation of the Delavan Pump Station.
The scope of work for the brownfield construction included civil grading, foundations, rotating equipment installation and alignments, pipe fabrication, pipe spools, hydrotesting, electrical and instrumentation work, steel fabrication and installation, building erection, and HVAC system installation.
Michels installed four 6,000-hp electric-driven pumps and performed 340 welds on pipe that ranged from 1" to 36" in diameter.
Michels successfully overcame challenges posed by brownfield construction. Four existing pipelines running through the site resulted in a tight workspace and pump house placement. Additionally, a majority of the electrical design required hydrovac trenching across the existing station.
Hydrotesting, hydrovacing and building erection were completed in extreme winter weather conditions.
