Scope

Michels performed the environmental restoration of 155 acres within Jackson Park in Chicago. Michels dewatered the lagoon to allow for the installation of woody structures for fish habitat, and did subgrade preparation for new walking paths and installation of 14,440 square yards of 1.5-2 inch crushed stone, which was topped with 7,030 square yards of gravel. Michels also completed subgrade preparation for 5,333 square yards of concrete path, overlook grading and 6 tons of limestone curbing installation.

Projects

Michels performed a project consisting of the removal of the Alderwood Dam Bridge including the primary and secondary spillways, removal of organic muck lake bottom soils, and removal of the existing asphalt roadway.

Michels rehabilitated a deteriorated culvert beneath the coal pile of an active power plant. Joint repairs on the culvert were completed prior to the application of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) wrap to reinforced and strengthened the existing culvert structure.
