Scope
Michels Construction, Inc. and Michels Road & Stone, Inc. worked from land and from barges to remove 800 feet of deteriorating timber and concrete seawall along the Kewaunee River in Harbor Park before replacing it with 800 feet of anchored steel sheet pile bulkhead. The new seawall was secured with 100 tieback anchors drilled 90 feet through the soil and into bedrock. Michels also backfilled and rehabilitated the 20-foot corridor between the new seawall and the shore, installing an 8-foot-wide boardwalk, green space, pedestrian lighting and a revetment area. Michels supplied custom-cut boulders from its Manitowoc Co. quarry for the step revetment area.
