Scope
Michels Construction, Inc. and Michels Road & Stone, Inc. performed revetments for various homeowners along the western coast of Lake Michigan in Illinois. In total, Michels supplied and installed 174 feet of sheet pile wall and steel cap channel, 655 tons of bedding stone, 40 tons filter stone, 690 tons of 200-1,000 lb quartzite core stone, and 3,935 tons of 2-6 ton quartzite armor stone for new revetment walls. One property required Michels to vibrate 17 H-piles to support a fence and another required the supply and installation of 1,200 tons of sand to build a beach within the new revetment. All locations included sets of flat armor stone steps.
All materials and equipment needed to be mobilized via barges. Crews were required to diligently monitor the weather and schedule any deliveries accordingly.
