Scope

Michels performed inbound and outbound structure construction for two separate contracts with IHC Construction Companies and Kenny Construction Company. In total, there were 139 drilled shafts between the two projects, ranging from 42-inch to 72-inch diameter and depths of 14 feet to 90 feet with rock sockets. Additionally, there were six separate earth retention systems ranging from cantilever sheet walls to complex multilevel braced excavations.

Michels Corporation completed a deep foundations package for a rail bridge to carry the Rock Island Metra tracks over tracks used by Amtrak and freight trains, eliminating at grade crossings.

Michels was part of an integrated joint venture responsible for executive management field supervision and engineering on the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority's University Link Light Rail Extension Project.
