Line 210 A, B & C Relocation at Cordelia Station
- Location California
MethodsOpen trenching, conventional boring and horizontal directional drilling.
The project was awarded then put on hold. When it was activated we had to mobilize in two weeks and shorten the work schedule to accommodate system constraints. We increased manpower and achieved the requested milestone dates from the customer. We relocated three pipelines requiring 5 bores: 2 horizontal directional drills and 3 guided bores. All five of the bores went under freeways requiring careful planning and settlement monitoring. The project required two excavations of 27' in depth. Michels Pipeline, Inc. performed this work without any issues partly due to help by Michels Tunneling which performs deep excavations like this routinely. The project site was shared with crews relocating power and distribution gas facilities at the same time requiring coordination and extensive communication by all parties involved.
