Madison Street Bridge House

Madison Street Bridge House

Scope

Michels Corporation designed and installed a foundation system to repair the quickly failing Madison Street Bridge House, which was sitting on deteriorating wood piles that caused the building to settle and lean to the southeast. Michels installed 17 micropiles, four of which were located within the bridge house and 13 of which were around the perimeter. Once the micropiles were installed, a waler system was set in place to act as the reaction for the 12 jacks that vertically lifted the southwest corner 4 inches and then lifted the entire building 6 inches.

Projects

Michels rebuilt a 250-foot wakefield timber dockwall that was built in the 1930s.
