Scope

Michels designed and built an Earth Retention System to provide global stability for a recreational and ski hill that has been experiencing multiple slope failures since a major rainfall in 2012. Michels installed more than 100 soldier piles and then excavated to allow installation of permanent pine lagging. Michels also installed drain tile and various aggregates, and ensured high levels of compaction to ensure management of water drainage.

Projects

Michels installed caissons on a small site along the in downtown Chicago. The caissons ranged in diameter from 4 to 6 feet and were drilled to an average depth of 90 feet.

Michels remediated a 5,400-linear foot dock wall to facilitate environmental dredging of the Menominee River at TYCO Fire Products, a manufacturing facility adjacent to the southern shore of the Menominee River.

Michels designed and installed an Earth Retention System (ERS) for a new pedestrian tunnel that was bored under three live Metra and Union Pacific rail lines.
