Scope

This Michels project consists of building 38 miles of bundled 345kV transmission line as well as rebuilding and reconductoring nine miles of existing bundled 345kV in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A total of five transmission lines are being installed in the Interstate Reliability Project (IRP) corridor. Michels is also built 270 poured concrete foundations for transmission towers and more than 600 direct embed excavations for more than 300 towers. Fifteen drill rigs and customized tools were used to handle large amounts of hard granite bedrock and large boulders in the area.

Michels designed and installed a foundation system to repair the quickly failing Madison Street Bridge House, which was sitting on deteriorating wood piles that caused the building to settle and lean to the southeast.
