Railway Improvement Project
- Location New Jersey
MethodsRail plow operations, Trenching, Placement of signal boxes
Michels installed 17 miles of electric and signal cables, conduits and splice boxes in New Jersey. The cable and conduits were installed and completed in two steps using rail plow operations. The first pass involved the placement of two 3-inch conduits that will carry 9,600 volt electrical cables. On the second pass, six conduits and cables were installed simultaneously. Splice boxes were set into previously excavated holes, at which time conduit was installed and prepared for future wire installation. The work was completed along a section of four tracks, three of which were live and in-use by high-speed commuter trains during construction.
