Scope
Michels installed 65 miles of 24-inch steel natural gas pipeline to provide natural gas service from Whitehall, IL to the St. Louis, MO metro area. The project included the installation of 3 subsurface mainline valves and 66 conventional bores consisting of 3 railroad crossings and 63 roads. More than 425 pieces of heavy equipment were required to perform the work.
Four directional drills were completed under the Mississippi River, Missouri River, Coldwater Creek, and Spanish Pond. The directional drill completed under the Mississippi River was 6,320 feet in length and the Missouri River drill was approximately 4,100 feet.
