Scope
Michels Power, Inc. was contracted to expand two substations to accommodate for the increased load required by a Paper Mill and update a substation which was at capacity.
At one of the substations, Michels Power added a new 230-69kV bay by installing a 230-69kV 150 MVA transformer and tying into the existing 230kV bus. Crews also replaced one of the existing 60 MVA 230-69kV transformer with a new 150 MVA transformer, demolished the second existing 230-69kV 60 MVA transformer bay, and replaced the existing 230kV bus switches.
At the other substation, Michels Power added a new bay to the substation within the Paper Mill, installed a new 69-12.47kV transformer, and paved the entire yard to prevent sawdust buildup which could create an electrical hazard.
