Scope
Michels performed the installation and conversion of 300-miles of electric overhead to underground. Michels mobilized over 70 of pieces of equipment to several project yard sites in Wisconsin. The scope of work included placement of new underground cable and duct by directional boring and plowing; setting of transformers and pedestals; splicing and terminating of new conductors; energization and cutover at customer homes; and removal of retired overhead facilities.
The project involved performing work through highly sensitive environmental areas, including animal and plant life. Michels worked closely with the clients internal environmental staff and state agencies to ensure compliance. Training was conducted with all project personnel to promote awareness of sensitive areas and mitigation steps to be taken. Pre-job surveys were conducted on a regular basis to identify and establish site specific plans for areas of concern.
