Scope
Michels cleaned, dewatered and applied 2.75 inches of geopolymer mortar to a 96-foot-long corrugated metal arch culvert placed to drain the upstream Mill Creek watershed under Washington Street. The culvert measured 11 feet 7 inches wide by 7 feet 5 inches tall.
To carry out the lining work with no internal flow during the installation, wier walls were built around both sides of the structure and a 36-inch HDPE plastic pipe was placed into the culvert as part of a bypass system. The pipe was removed after completion of the lining and the unlined voids under the bypass pipe invert were filled with geopolymer lining.
