Windsor OCB Replacement

Windsor OCB Replacement

Scope

Michels Power, Inc. completed the removal of a 115kV oil circuit breaker and replaced it with a new SF6 gas 115kV circuit breaker. Additionally, Michels Power, Inc. pulled new control cables to the circuit breaker, installed a new junction box in the yard and performed miscellaneous wiring changes inside the control building.

The project took place inside of an existing substation, so crews had to maneuver equipment around the structural members. The existing circuit breaker was removed using steel plates to slide it from its location.

Projects

Michels Power, Inc. worked with an East Coast utility company to transform a 240-acre site on top of a closed coal mine into a 230kV electrical substation. Michels constructed 240 7-inch micropiles with rock sockets and drilled 190 shafts with rock sockets.
