A tunneling drill at the bottum of a deep shaft.

North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant Conveyance

Michels Canada used microtunneling to install 5,300 feet of 82.5-inch diameter steel pipe in five runs to support a new wastewater treatment pump station capable of transporting 30 million gallons per day of effluent. All five microtunnel runs were launched from shafts constructed with secant piles, two of which required ground improvement.
The project is located next to the Pacific Ocean under Lions Gate Bridge on public and private properties. Developing relationships with stakeholders, including British Columbia Rail, CN Rail, local First Nations, trade union, local businesses, and public agencies was critical to our success.
