Paving machines lay concrete at an airport

Appleton International Airport Paving

Michels Road & Stone, Inc. self-performed removal and reparation of material on an apron at the Appleton International Airport. After the old surface was removed, Michels poured the apron with concrete pavement and econocrete.

Econocrete is a combination of aggregates and cement mixed to create a solid, lower-compression strength subbase for the top layer of concrete to rest on. About 27,000 square yards of econocrete were poured to create a 5-inch layer, followed by a 15-inch layer of concrete pavement.
