Hurricane Ian
Michels Power, Inc. crews arrived in Florida a day before Hurricane Ian to be ready for the large-scale effort to rebuild the snarled grid and restore power. The 277 crew members and 315 pieces of equipment rode out the storm near Kissimmee, FL, and then crews began working with the utility and other contractors to restore power to about 300,000 Duke Energy Florida customers affected by the storm. The Michels crews spent about a week on the ground, demobilizing on Oct. 5 when power was restored to most Duke Energy customers.
The crews restored power to thousands of Floridians without any injuries or incidents.
