A freshly paved foundation base

Manufacturing Plant Construction

Michels Construction, Inc. used steel sheet pile, secant shafts, and drilled shafts to build several earth retention systems for crews to pour foundations in an area with a high water table. The project included installations of 650 feet of 30-foot-long sheets, and 32 880mm diameter shafts 55 feet deep.

Once Michels Construction, Inc. installed the earth retention systems and dewatered the area, the crew installed one 42-inch shaft 70 feet deep. The work was safely performed in a dry work area 40 feet below the water table.

The 110,000-square-foot greenfield manufacturing plant produces more than 230 million pounds of aluminum billet per year.
