Michels is making sure students start the school year with everything they need to succeed. Our headquarters and nearby offices collected about 30 boxes of new and gently used items throughout the month of August for the Mayville School District during our annual school supply drive.
Supplies ranged from traditional school supply list items like pencils, notebooks, crayons, and highlighters to technological accessories like headphones, ear buds, and computer mice. We also collected hygiene and cleaning items like deodorant, disinfect wipes, and resealable plastic bags, and Michels donated 100 first-aid kits.
School staff work to identify students’ needs and distribute supplies to those who would otherwise have difficulties acquiring these items. Some of the supplies will stock classrooms of larger sizes with learning essentials or be used for student projects and office surplus supplies.
In addition to the supply drive at and near our headquarters, other Michels locations collected supplies for their local schools. The R1VER office in Milwaukee, WI collected 1,650 items for Blessed Catholic School. In Tumwater, WA, our people collected 90 lbs. of supplies. Those donations were matched by an area credit union.
The school supply drive not only ensures that students facing financial barriers are prepared and confident for school, but also allows us to give back to the community where we live and work.
Through our Core Value of social responsibility, Michels reinforces our commitment to prepare the next generation of the workforce and future leaders. We aim to make a lasting impact beyond the workplace and show area K-12 students that we are invested in their success.
