Michels was the prime contractor for the construction of the Interstate 94 STH 142 Interchange project. Michels was responsible for the oversight of 16 subcontractors working on this project. The project consisted of constructing 8 miles of 24-foot wide mainline paving, 8 miles of 12-foot shoulder and 1 mile of ramps. Michels paved 165,000 square yards of concrete at completion of the project. The freeway expansion was constructed under traffic and maintained two open lanes in each direction at all times. Michels had a mobile crushing plant on-site to recycle more than 100,000 tons of concrete.
