Michels supports utility technician training facility
Michels Corporation is helping meet the demand for trained gas utility technicians by making the lead donation to Moraine Park Technical College’s Energy Education Center in Beaver Dam, WI.
Sean Nicholson, Vice President of HSE, spoke on behalf of Michels and the Michels family during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday.
“Moraine Park’s Energy Education Center and Gas Utility Technician program is of significant importance to us,” he said. “We firmly believe this state-of-the-art facility will be a critical source for skilled labor for the gas distribution industry. Here, the students will have the opportunity to learn the trade with a high level of focus and attention on safety, quality, and environmental stewardship. These bright young men and women will leave the programs with the knowledge and skills to become gas utility technicians, positions that are in high demand.”
Established in 1959 as a natural gas distribution contractor, Michels has grown into one of the largest transportation and utility contractors in North America. The exponential growth was spurred by founder Dale Michels’ belief in hiring the best people, giving them the best equipment and letting them figure out the rest.
That strategy holds true at the same time opportunities for skilled technicians continues to grow.
The first class of gas utility technicians will graduate in 2019.
