Don't ditch these winter driving tips

Winter driving can be tricky for even the most seasoned drivers.  As you are heading out to the road this winter in your own personal vehicle or in a Michels vehicle, please keep these tips in mind:

BE PREPARED
Make a safety kit to put in your vehicle
• Extra clothing or blankets
• A flashlight
• Jumper cables
• Chains or traction mats
• Battery jump pack
Plan your trip
Know your route
Always have at least a ½ tank of fuel

DO A PROPER PRE-TRIP INSPECTION
All lights working and cleaned off from any snow
All windows are cleaned off
Tires have proper air pressure and have adequate tread

EXERCISE CAUTION
Slow down and give yourself plenty of safe space
Brake and accelerate lightly
Watch for black ice and approach bridges with caution
If stranded or stuck, stay in your vehicle.
