A Michels truck operates over a street culvert

Cottonmill Wastewater SIPP

After a canal closed for winter, Michels Trenchless, Inc. rehabilitated 300 feet of a deteriorating 84-inch corrugated metal pipe inside the wasteway. Using a spin-cast application method, geopolymer mortar was applied in three complete passes totaling a 2-inch final thickness. This method was used to restore the structural integrity and lengthen the pipe’s overall design life. The project was completed over one week in November.

Initially contracted as a 150-foot installation, the owner extended the project length by 150 feet with an additional 75 feet of invert repair. In total, the Kearney Canal pipe spanned 450 feet under Highway 30.
