Jervis Forcemain Tunnel
Michels Canada was the prime contractor for the Jervis Forcemain project. A roadheader machine was used for excavation on this job, and initial supports were constructed with steel ribs and wood boards.
Construction consisted of a 305m horseshoe tunnel with a diameter of 1800mm, a cast-in-place junction chamber, a live sewer tie-in, and a 1200mm diameter sewer installed beneath an arterial roadway.
Michels’ commitment to a safe working environment resulted in zero lost time due to incidents throughout the Jervis Forcemain project.
