Crew operating sidebooms adjust pipeline in trench on Nexus project

NEXUS

Michels Pipeline, Inc. was awarded construction of spreads 1, 3 and 4 of NEXUS. The scope encompassed 177 miles of 36-inch pipeline, three meter stations, and two compressor stations. Crews completed 224 road bores and 12 horizontal directional drills.

Michels Pipeline Inc. mobilized 2,000 people and 1,000 pieces of equipment to complete the work, which included significant dewatering operations involving 1.7 million square feet of sheet piling as well as wellpoints, sump pumps and deep wells, and drain tiling. The reclamation process included restoration of topsoil that separated during construction.

NEXUS was designed to transport up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of cleaner burning, domestically abundant natural gas from receipt points in eastern Ohio to existing pipeline system interconnections in southeastern Michigan. It helps meet increasing demand for cleaner power.
