While safety is a year-round priority at Michels, spring is when trade organizations across the United States recognize our successes from the previous year.
These awards recognize our commitment to safety and celebrate the people who live our Core Values every day. Congratulations to everyone whose contributions have made our jobsites and communities safer and have helped Michels’ dedication to safety resonate throughout the industries we serve:
- The results of Michels Construction’s injury and illness survey for nearly 2 million hours worked in 2024 earned the Leadership in Safety Award from the Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Construction Industry Safety Council.
- Michels Construction’s 2024 safety statistics were honored with a Safety Award by the Maryland Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) at their annual Champions of Safety event.
- The Associated General Contractors of Minnesota and Chicagoland Associated General Contractors both recognized Michels Construction with a Certificate of Commendation for Excellent Safety Record for being 25 percent below the division incident rate for 325,000 work hours or more.
- Michels Construction was recognized with the 1-Year Bronze Safety Award for our focus and commitment to creating a culture of safety, including lowering our Experience Modification Rate (EMR); OSHA recordables and citations; and Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) score.
- Both Michels Energy Group and Micon Group received the Workplace Safety Award for exemplary safety records by Mid-Atlantic Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Mid-Atlantic and Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET), which reviewed nominees’ safety records and Experience Modification Rates (EMR) from the prior year, comparing the number of employees, the number of hours worked and the number, and severity of on-the-job accidents.
While we appreciate the prestige of these awards, our most important metric for safety will always be our journey to zero injuries where everyone comes home safe every day.
