To celebrate the largest number of summer interns in Michels’ history, we brought them all together for two days of programming, networking and socializing in Brownsville, WI.
Nearly 150 college interns gathered at our headquarters to receive a personal welcome from the Michels family and hear from executives and other staff to help prepare them for their engaging experiences over the next few months.
In addition to getting their identification badges, touring the Brownsville office and yard, and being introduced to both the technology and culture of Michels, the interns heard tips for making the most of their opportunity. A panel of company presidents as well as former interns whose careers have taken them far at Michels answered candid questions about what to expect and how to succeed over the next few months.
Each intern also received a Mi-Promise Stop Work challenge coin, which empowers every Michels employee to refuse to perform work that is or appears to be unsafe—a physical reminder of our Core Value of safety.
The interns will spend the summer months at offices and jobsites across the country. A variety of dedicated resources, including an intern portal, newsletter and student-only chat will be available throughout their internships to help them acclimate and get answers to questions as needed.
Michels’ interns gain hands-on experience in a wide variety of work performed across a variety of industries. The program also allows us to identify young talent to help bolster our ranks after graduation, an essential tactic as Michels continues to grow. Last year, 37 percent of our graduating interns were offered full-time positions, and many others were welcomed back for a second internship to broaden their exposure, skills and contacts.
We welcome these latest Michels representatives and look forward to working together this summer!
